” I have been a photographer all my life….and have made photographs of many things and for many reasons. But one thing that becomes more and more apparent is that I am simply only as good as my next photograph. That’s the one that counts the most….For this reason I find it a delight to face a new day, and to develop that new roll of film. It’s a great way to live.”
Hope you're good.
quick question. do you use an agency to find the girls you shoot? Do you street cast?
Hello Bruce, it depends, around 60% of the girls featured here on tumbler I have found on the streets/metro/shopping malls etc I seldom find ‘suitable’ models when I have castings for various reasons, although there are many exceptions..If I work with a model from an agency they, the agency are paranoid about nudity despite so many Magazines demanding this, and most Photographers too..so I prefer the freedom to choose..But now when I get commissioned by a magazine they seem to trust my judgement and it’s reasonably hassle free..
I can't believe a mature adult who should understand the concept of objectivity can say something like "you are not an artist".
ESPECIALLY you, there are so many more crudely pornographic photographers out there who classify themselves as artists.
Without wishing to seem churlish i find making comparisons futile. How other people perceive their work is their business. I do not put any value on the nonsense I produce, it is not a case of self loathing, i sincerely believe that the images I post here are immature..contrived, my attempts to reveal the truth seem hopeless and beyond me.
I agree with all you say. Everything is bullshit. But showing your self loathing can backfire and be used against you. I admire the courage to be vulnerable. Your photos could be interpreted as smut. Though the connection you have with your subjects is undeniable.
I think most people loath themselves.. although I wasn’t aware i had revealed this so emphatically…but who gives a fuck?
I do not care how people perceive me or the Photos I post. They see only what they are capable of seeing, ‘smut’ ‘art’ ‘porn’ everything you see or hear will be labelled determined by each individuals background, intellect, up bringing, etc….I have no power over how people perceive the images, I don’t care, there is no real value in anything, everything is just passing by.
Did you really ask yourself a question as anonymous and answer it with an off-topic response? The writing style of the question matched the writing style of the answer. Worse still is the canned bullshit about ugliness and beauty that is as vacuous as it is contradictory. You're a smut peddler, not an artiste. Let's be clear, here.
I never profess to be an artist. I take photos, like them or not, who cares?
Try not to take things too seriously, you obviously have some problems. Everything i write is bullshit..the Photos I take are bullshit, the world is full of it. learn to live with it..
Some images Mike may be more alluring, but others, are enduring. So do not look for the those that make you come but those that make you want to fall in love. Remember, bananas are interesting and bottle and cigarettes are amusing, but a look, a glance and a gesture, if in its most intimate offerings can be held for even but a second, is seldom forgotten and rarely released from our thoughts.
Try to see things in a different perspective. The world and the things in it are not constructed to please us they are just there, you either like them or you don’t. The more tolerant you are the better.
Almost everything is subjective. I do not consciously follow a criteria, although it is inevitable if one is fully conscious. You appear to have a romantic view of things, my work is the ugliness of beauty.
Incidentally, if i took photos the way you suggest they would become something else, not what they are.
It’s amazing how the internet has changed most peoples attitudes towards sex.
Before it was mainly guess work but the proof is there for all to see, everyone, especially teenagers, are gagging for it. They pour out all their desires, perversions and yearnings on social sites like face book, twitter and tumblr in lurid detail.
